Our Story

An Idea that Emerged From Traveling

Again, Welcome to I CARE! As the founders of I CARE, we wanted to share our story behind starting I CARE.

All three of us -- Cody, Elisa, and Anna -- were born and raised in Beijing. We moved to Vancouver, B.C. together in 2012, and started our study abroad journey.

We started traveling together since a young age: been to many countries, been on countless road trips, and drove through almost half of China with our parents. The place struck us the most was the prairies of Inner Mongolia. There, we saw the striking beauty of nature; there, we saw the kindness and humbleness of the people; there, aside from all the wonderful things, we also saw a lack of resource for English education. Deep into the prairies, most schools are taught in Mongolian, making English the third language for most students and teachers. However, under the current social atmosphere, English is a necessary skill to acquire.The schools longed for a change, the teacher wanted more resource, and the students deserved better English education quality. The three of us have the privilege of studying abroad and receiving the best education we can. Seeing the students' eagerness to learn and the administrators' efforts to change, we thought it was time for us to contribute.
